PETCORE EUROPE Thermoforms Working Group was launched in June 2015, followed by a number of events such as: online workshops on Recycling PET Thermoforms in March 2015 and in December 2021 and also, Thermoforms Conference 2023 in Italy.

 

Thermoforms Working Group comprises more than 70 companies & organisations, including key players from industry: Brand Owners, Retailers, EPR´s, Waste Management, Recyclers, Converters, Raw Materials, Additives and Equipment Manufacturers.

 

The objective of this physical event is to promote thermoforms collection & recycling and specifically tray to tray circularity. We will also showcase PETCORE EUROPE Thermoforms WG’s initiatives: Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) and Functional Barrier (FB) task Force.

 

The first day of the event will feature presentations from high-level speakers from the European Commission that will explain their goals & expectations for PET trays. Also, we will have interventions from the major experts in the field of thermoforms, followed by panel discussions with guests from the PET industry: E&ACT, KOR, KP Films, Sulayr, Dow, Tomra, Corepla and many others. The participants will have an exclusive networking opportunity in combination with extraordinary historic sightseeing in Granada. On the second day PETCORE EUROPE will organize the Alhambra Visit - UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entering this architectural complex will fully immerse you in the Andalusian culture. Through its gardens, palaces, towers and gates, you can transport yourself to a time of great splendour and connect with a civilization that left its mark on the city in a decisive way to become what it is today. ​ ​

Right after we will have Plant Visit to one of the most modern Sorting Centers in Europe - The Granada Ecopower Plant https://bit.ly/4cIr28D. This complex consists of the following facilities: a mechanical-biological treatment plant, an environmental classroom, a leachate treatment plant and a waste landfill. PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) is a strong but lightweight form of polyester. It is used to make containers for soft drinks, juices, drinks, water, edible oil, fresh food and dairy as well as household cleaners and other non-food applications. PET bottles and food containers, such as sheets and trays are perfectly recyclable while they help to reduce CO2 emissions and food waste.
