Petcore’s Annual Conference 2023 will be held on 1-2 February at the DoubleTree Hilton Brussels and will be dedicated to recycling, circularity and the PET value chain’s contribution to the EU’s carbon neutrality goals. This hybrid event also marks Petcore’s 30th anniversary! Register today if you have not purchased your ticket yet!

Our Annual Conference in June 2022 was largely presentation-based but this year’s event will be much more interactive with dialogue between panellists, PET industry experts and the audience.

As well as covering the initiatives of our various working groups, the conference will explore the core challenges facing our sector over the next 3 years: vPET and rPET market evolutions, fundamental objectives for the PET industries, Energy and Geopolitics, PET Net Carbon Strategies, recent and future regulatory EU issues and many other insightful topics. We will be welcoming high-level speakers including EU VP Timmermans or a representative (to be confirmed), Alexandre Paquot (Director for Innovation for a Low Carbon, Resilient Economy at DG CLIMA, EC) and Mattia PELLEGRINI (Head of Unit DG ENV, EC) who will explain their expectations and goals for the PET value chain.

Climate neutrality, Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation and other EU regulations will dominate the debate while PET market evolution and perspectives (vPET and rPET) will be highlighted. Here you can check out the full agenda and speakers.

On the first day of the event, there will be a new interactive format with 10 Technical Interventions from all Petcore Europe Working Groups. They will feature a presentation by the WG Chair followed by an extensive Q&A session with experts from the PET industry & audience, in which participants will have the chance to pose questions and share their views in real time. During our Gala Dinner on 1 February we will commemorate our 30 year anniversary by honouring the milestones we have achieved, recognizing the hard work and commitment of our members, thanking loyal partners, sponsors and allies and listening to keynote speakers.

The second day will feature high-level interventions from the institutions and business community touching on a wide range of issues - from the EU’s net zero carbon strategy to the ongoing work on the European Green Deal, upcoming regulatory developments on packaging and recycling and the role of the European Commission in encouraging circularity practices such as the requirement that all EU countries should establish Deposit-Refund Systems (DRS) by 2029 (i.e. Packaging & packaging waste regulation). We will also focus on new topics including “PET value chain Supply & Demand”, the fundamental objectives for the PET industries, and the subject of Energy and Geopolitics.

Petcore has been pioneering PET circularity since 1993. Its annual conference draws the whole industry value chain and enjoys wide engagement including Sponsors and Media partners.

About Petcore Europe

Petcore Europe is the association representing the complete PET value chain in Europe since 1993.

Its mission is to ensure that the entire PET industry is well aligned to enhance its value and sustainable growth, to represent the PET industry before the European institutions and other stakeholders, to ensure that PET is positioned as an outstanding packaging material and recognised as environmentally sound, to support and validate innovative packaging solutions from a recycling perspective, and to work with all interested parties to ensure a continuous increase of PET post-consumer collection and recycling.

PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) is a strong but lightweight form of polyester. It is used to make containers for soft drinks, juices, drinks, water, edible oil, fresh food and dairy as well as household cleaners and other non-food applications. PET bottles and food containers, such as sheets and trays are perfectly recyclable while they help to reduce CO2 emissions and food waste.
