SAVE the dates 18 & 19 June & Register Today to meet up with experts and PET Thermoforms industry leaders at our Thermoforms Conference 2026 “Beyond the theory, towards PPWR compliance: Real Recycling of PET trays?” to be held in Spain, Valencia, ​ at SH HOTEL (Paseo de la Alameda, 32, El Pla del Real, 46023 Valencia).

In order to get at least 30% recycled content for PET thermoforms, PETCORE EUROPE is currently concentrating on assisting the value chain in meeting the PPWR objectives for collection, sorting, and recycling.

The first day of the event will feature presentations from all major experts in the field of thermoforms, followed by panel discussions with guests from the industry. High-level speakers will join us to explain the European Commission’s goals & expectations ​ for PET trays.

On the second day, PETCORE EUROPE will organise a visit to AIMPLAS laboratories certified in the application of the Tray Recyclability protocols, where you can see how the circularity of thermoformed packaging is evaluated, and where packaging made with Recycled PET is evaluated for food contact.

This physical event will have a special focus on thermoforms collection and the sorting of PET thermoforms as a first key step towards circularity, with a demonstration exercise made with real material flow along all steps in the circularity route. We will also showcase other PETCORE EUROPE Thermoforms such as Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) and, Standardisation efforts for design for recycling and recyclability evaluations in connection with PPWR. We will also discuss recyclability scoring which is provisioned in the PPWR. Additionally, the application of EU 20222/1616 for Functional Barrier (FB) as Novel Technology and its implications will be discussed.
