INVITATION to Tracer Workshop on 24 February 2016 in Brussels: How to improve plastic sorting efficiency?

Get an overview on all active tracer programmes and together find a solution to align on industry standard!

Brussels

Petcore Europe in collaboration with Procter & Gamble is pleased to announce a Tracer Workshop on 24 February 2016 in Brussels. Please find the complete invitation attached.

Interested? THEN REGISTER HERE.

What is it about?

We intend to stimulate a cross-industry discussion to harmonise the use of tracers into plastic packaging materials. The workshop will focus on PET as a start and intends to create a precedent for other plastics later on.

We therefore would like to reach out to all interested parties (brand owners, green dot organisations, EU institutions, plastics converters, resin/masterbatch producers, recycling line and optical detection machine vendors, recyclers, waste management companies, research institutes, etc.) in order to have an open dialogue on this subject. The main objective is to talk and solve this problem as an industry (e.g. very similar approach as the introduction of barcodes on a pack) and align on basic principles and paths forward.

Please note that only technical topics will be discussed during that meeting. Commercial discussions won't be allowed.

About Petcore Europe

Petcore Europe is the association representing the complete PET value chain in Europe since 1993.

Its mission is to ensure that the entire PET industry is well aligned to enhance its value and sustainable growth, to represent the PET industry before the European institutions and other stakeholders, to ensure that PET is positioned as an outstanding packaging material and recognised as environmentally sound, to support and validate innovative packaging solutions from a recycling perspective, and to work with all interested parties to ensure a continuous increase of PET post-consumer collection and recycling.

PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) is a strong but lightweight form of polyester. It is used to make containers for soft drinks, juices, drinks, water, edible oil, fresh food and dairy as well as household cleaners and other non-food applications. PET bottles and food containers, such as sheets and trays are perfectly recyclable while they help to reduce CO2 emissions and food waste.
