PETCORE EUROPE is now focused on helping the value chain to reach the PPWR targets of 55% for collection, sorting and recycling and 30% recycled content for the PET thermoforms.

The first day of the event will feature the presentations from all the major experts in the field of thermoforms, followed by panel discussions with the guests from the industry. Also, high-level speakers will join us to explain the goals & expectations of the European Commission for the PET trays. ​ On the second day PETCORE EUROPE will organize a visit to one of the most sophisticated Sorting Plants that shows how efficient PET thermoforms collection and sorting can be. This year’s event will feature presentations from authorities and key industry players, as well as discussions on the implications of the PPWR for the thermoforming industry. We will also provide updates on:

  • Standardization efforts through CEN/CENELEC for design for recycling,
  • Internal PETCORE activities, including the Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP), which serves as a robust framework for evaluating the recyclability of thermoformed packaging.

Additionally, we will present updates from the Task Forces within the PETCORE EUROPE Thermoforming Working Group, covering key areas such as:

  • Collection & Sorting
  • Recycling Technologies
  • Food Contact
  • Standardization
  • Communication

These sessions will include presentations, success stories, and open discussions to foster industry collaboration.

PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) is a strong but lightweight form of polyester. It is used to make containers for soft drinks, juices, drinks, water, edible oil, fresh food and dairy as well as household cleaners and other non-food applications. PET bottles and food containers, such as sheets and trays are perfectly recyclable while they help to reduce CO2 emissions and food waste.
